The nominees for this year’s awards from the Chicago Film Critics Association have been announced, with “The Handmaiden,” “Jackie,” “La La Land,” “Manchester by the Sea” and “Moonlight” competing for the title of Best Picture.
Coming in with eleven nominations, Barry Jenkins‘ drama “Moonlight” leads the pack, as compared to the eight received by both “Jackie” and “Manchester by the Sea.” Other particularly strong titles include Hollywood musical “La La Land” (with seven nominations), Park Chan-wook‘s scintillating period piece “The Handmaiden” (with six), sci-fi drama “Arrival” and Paul Verhoeven’s “Elle” (with three each).
Roger Ebert was on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Film Critics Association. RogerEbert.com Managing Editor Brian Tallerico is the Vice President of the CFCA. Publisher Chaz Ebert, Assistant Editor Nick Allen, and Assistant Editor Matt Fagerholm are members, as are contributors Peter Sobczynski, Collin Souter, Erik Childress, Sergio Mims, Mark Dujsik and Patrick McGavin.
