Jim Emerson is the founding editor of RogerEbert.com and has written lots of things in lots of places over lots of years. Mostly involving movies.
Based in Seattle, he’s been a critic, journalist, “art house” booker, film festival programmer, web/multimedia producer and editor, filmmaker, blogger, comedy writer, screenwriter, dogsitter and a bunch of other stuff. He was the editor of Microsoft Cinemania, the multimedia movie encyclopedia, on CD-ROM and the web. Formerly a member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, he was the movie critic for the Orange County Register, and his writing has also appeared in the Seattle Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Los Angeles Times, Film Comment, The Rocket, Seattle Weekly, Amazon.com, Premiere and elsewhere. He likes to write about things he likes to write about, but is not so crazy about writing about things he doesn’t like to write about.
