From Larry Dieckhaus, veteran Chicago movie publicist:
I was catching up on the papers and was shocked to learn of Jim Gordon’s untimely death. Your tribute and personality piece about Jim was lovely. He was a wonderful guy, professional and knowledgeable beyond his generosity of spirit. From a Press Agent’s perspective, he was one of the greats who never got the reward of moving to a larger paper and market, and that never bothered Jim. He trudged along professionally as though he wrote for the biggest daily in the country. He was always cheerful and added a brightness to any ordinary or sub-par day. His love of his grandchildren was legendary. As I myself fell into that grandfatherly category, we always had a few items to exchange.
