From Kevin Leonard:
I’m prompted to write to you today because I am really enjoying the new show “Ebert Presents At The Movies” and I’m starting to understand why you picked these two nice young reviewers Christy and Ignatiy.
Is it me, or are they getting better with each show? I think maybe they are! I’m feeling reminded of years ago when I would watch you and Gene regularly. I learned to understand each of you and where you were coming from as individuals, largely because the two of you were so open emotionally. It felt like we were getting great insights and commentary from you guys because, much like musicians who can relax and let things fly out from inside themselves, you were relaxed, comfortable, confident and skilled. And music just flowed out of you!
I was always so grateful that you and Gene were THERE for all of us movie-goers. Sometimes things are clearer with two points of view (the Beatles were always most fun working together!) and the bravery needed to show your true feelings brings so much more depth to movie reviews.
I’m sensing similar courage as Christy and Ignatiy are revealing themselves more and more (both emotionally and intellectually) and it’s resulting in the same sort of clarity (and fun) for the viewer.
Many thanks and “Bravo!” to everyone involved with the new show!
