I found your comments about “Crash” absolutely dead-on. My wife teaches communications and critical thinking at Cal State University San Marcos. She gives the students freqent exercises to challenge them to question the lenses through which they view the world. After showing them “Crash,” she came home emotoinally exhausted, but pleased that the film reached the students in a way a lecture could never do. It literally turned some of the around. It may not be Hollywood’s mission to teach values. But when it conveys the complexity of human motivation as well as “Crash,” then credit is due. Thanks for your great column.
