I saw “Red Eye” at a movie theater and last week rented it to play for my wife. I’m setting up the DVD player and suddenly the DVD menu, like so many others, runs scenes from the film behind the Menu options list. Until one kills the menu screen, scores of scenes continue to play and in this case ‘spoil’ by previewing almost all key scenes. I was aghast and could not believe my eyes as I find myself seeing, before the movie has begun, many of its key scenes…
While trailers all too often ‘ruin’ a film by giving away too many scenes, trailers at least have a sales purpose.
But DVD’s have already been rented or purchased. So what do such DVD creator lame-brains seek to gain by running suck totally spoiling movie clips behind the menu, which pretty much ruins the movie experience???
NOTE: I chased my wife out of the LR before she saw the “Red Eye” spoiler scenes.
