“Manchester By the Sea,” the story of a Massachusetts family dealing with grief, is nominated for six Oscars including Best Picture, Original Screenplay and Director for Kenneth Lonergan, as well as a trifecta of acting nominations—Michelle Williams for Best Supporting Actress, the excellent Lucas Hedges for Best Supporting Actor and the odds-on favorite for Best Actor, Casey Affleck.
