Flashback #8: Waiting for Godard

Though Godard has a new film at Cannes this year, his previous picture, “Film Socialisme,” had been rumored to be his last. Roger found the 2010 abstract mosaic to be a head-scratching mess, and wrote memorably about the bewilderment that ensued when Godard failed to show up to his own press conference, thus bringing added meaning to the film’s final title card reading, “NO COMMENT.” Of further interest is the film’s setting, the Costa Concordia, the ill-fated Italian cruise ship which sank in 2012.
